Daily Post – Life is too short to…

No Time to Waste

Life is too short to hold a grudge against friends and yourself.

It’s all too easy to say, “I’m never speaking to her/him again!” (cue slamming door). But we never really mean it. I’ve had friends who I’ve confided in about personal issues and trusting them with keeping the information secret, not really expecting to hear that they’ve gone and told a bunch of people.

Trust is a valuable thing to gain and so easy to break. With the situation above you really have just got to weigh up; the reason why they did it and if it’s worth holding a grudge against them about it. For me, the latter’s answer is most certainly not to hold a grudge.

Holding a grudge against yourself DEFINITELY ISN’T the best thing to do. Above the friendship grudge, a personal grudge is  where you’re just hating yourself…there’s no two sides of the story, not he said, she said no excuses on why your holding it; just breathe. It sounds easier than it is and therefore may sound pretentious, but believe me, taking a few deep breaths (or Ujjayi breathing aka ocean breath) and pairing it with a forward bend (Uttanasana for you Yoga bunnies out there like me), into Chaturanga and back into down-dog. Repeating this three or four times really helps me to centre and gain a clearer perspective on things.

I digress, life really is WAY too short to be holding grudges…that’s that.

NTR (Note to remember): Forgiveness is divine. Cherish the will to do it.

A Class on a Treadmill, at Mile High Run Club (plus a GIVEAWAY for 10 winners!)

Everyone that knows me, knows I don’t do classes, I hate treadmills (haven’t been on one in 4 years, when I flew off it), I hate working out, more so if it’s indoors. Not doing it. Remember when I tried spinning and hated it so much??? Ugh, I still shudder, ugh.

Enter the new thing in NYC, the “treadmill studios”. What? Yeah. There was an article in the NY  Times (so you know it’s serious) called Happily Going Nowhere fast. Interesting, I thought. As in: no way. Ms. Warner’s studio (the Mile High Run Club, there’s a few others) provides an indoor service for which busy New Yorkers seem to be desperate: a high-intensity interval workout in 45 minutes. The 4,000-square-foot space has ample room for 30 Woodway treadmills, which have a running surface like tank treads that is supposed to mimic the feel of trail running.

Our Issues

So we’ve all got our own insecurities and problems and we deal with them in our own ways. I’ve only just started to really (like really) notice my anxiety.

I’m an active person even on the weekends when most 9-5ers are chilling out and not doing anything, I’ve never been one to just sit around and do nothing and waste the day. So whenever I do, it can set it off.

If you ever feel anxious, just stop for a few minutes, sit or lie down and breathe. Yoga breathing exercises can really help you clear your mind and set the focus on positives again.

If you think “it’s not ‘normal’ to have these,” just think to yourself; normal doesn’t really exist…

My New Obsession- Acro Yoga

Just a quick post tonight guys. Just got back from my second Acro Yoga class and live it even more than I did the first class.

Alice Milner, who also owns the Funky Monkey studioin Bath, is a fantastic Yoga and Acro teacher! Can’t really ask for anyone better.

If you feel that you’d be “too heavy” to do the team stuff, don’t be silly and get on it!

The group stuff is really fun and very good for core work and whole body strength.

I’m totally and utterly addicted to this.

It’s a great way to do a low impact workout on fast days too!

NTR: Make sure you keep hydrated throughout and eat something substantial before you go!

Just Released: New Blogging U. Ebooks

The WordPress.com Blog

Our recent Writing 101 and Writing 201 Blogging U. courses were a huge success — so we thought you should be able to enjoy them even if your schedule didn’t allow you to take them in real time.

We’re happy to announce that both courses are now offered as free ebooks, available for download in .pdf, .mobi (Kindle), and .epub (iBooks) formats. While conceived with nonfiction writers in mind, fiction writers (we know you’re out there, NaNoWriMo participants!) could find both courses just as useful.

Which ebook should you choose?

Writing 101: Build a Blogging Habit was initially designed as a four-week course. It includes 20 writing prompts, each with its own (optional) twist to push your writing in new directions, from improving your descriptions to thinking about voice and pace. In ebook form, now you can follow the course at your own rhythm and in any order you wish.

Amp Up Your Athletic Performance

Such a fantastic post. Great advise from a lovely lady who really knows her stuff!

Just finished speaking at the Running Room here in Kelowna British-Columbia. I had such an amazing time, I’m so grateful for all the amazing questions and participation. I shared my top three foods to enhance athletic performance and overall health.

I really wanted to to share this with my lovely readers to keep you in the loop.

Exercise Is Its Own Kind Of Food

  • A balanced diet is essential for a happy and healthy life, but without regular exercise no amount of kale or superfoods will make up for lack of movement.
  • Stress, hard work, and lots of thinking create tension in the body, which can lead to chronic aches, tightness, and constipation.
  • Alcohol, sugar and caffeine are the #1 most often used methods to alleviate these symptoms, which only serve to worsen the problem.
  • Exercise is an ideal way of releasing stress and physical tension. Without exercise, it’s hard…
